Hello Tom,

I bet you thought I disappeared from the screen.  Well, the fact is I finally took delivery of my 16 harness computer loom the end of August and it looks like it's going to be a steep learning curve even though I've been weaving for over 25 years on conventional looms.

I think it's going to be fun once I get the glitches out.  Dale delivered the loom and set it up but didn't have either the power supply or the legs for the bench with him, so I'm looking down the driveway every day for them to arrive.  I'm  working off a 12-volt battery in the meantime.

The first thing that happened was that the software couldn't get past shed #1 without a "shed error" message.  Sally B was very helpful in solving the interface problem right away--a matter of unchecking a box and EUREKA!  The possibilities on a 16 harness straight draw seem to be endless.

There is a little cable attached to a pulley on the right treadle that came undone and it was fun looking for the nut that came off under the loom. That problem was solved and additionally there was another nut under the loom that came loose and managed to find out where that was attached.  Time to tighten all the loose nuts!

Anyway, this crazy old lady is ready to roll.

Regards,
Barb Kuhn, Grants Pass, where it never seems to rain.

Hi Tom,
The power supply and legs came today.  Pony Express would have been faster that the US Post Office.  Oh well, we're all together at last.

Regards,
Barbara Kuhn

About eight weeks ago I took the bull by the horns, removed the lower back beam from my J-comp, installed all new cables, readjusted the tension on the tie-up box, and voila!  All the problems I have been having vanished and I have woven thousands of picks since with nary a glitch.

Thank you, Dale, for all the advice and the new cables.  J-comp owners probably should consider buying a spare set of cables from Dale to have around in case of need.  I sure want a spare set now that I have used my spares.

Cheers and happy weaving to all!

Tom.
